Upon receipt of the Nomination Forms, the Nominee’s Information is placed in the Theologian Awards database for processing and scoring. Processing consists of counting and evaluating the number of submittals for respective Nominees, along with synthesizing the information to align with the Theo-Awards Criteria Categories. Scoring each Nominee is based on a Scripture Oriented Criteria.

PROCESS / CRITERIA

After the size of a Nominee’s Church is determined, each Nominee is evaluated, categorized, compared to other Nominees and scored according to the following criteria:

Spiritual Man (Job1:7-8) – This category will deal with the Nominator’s view on Humanitarian issues, feedback from Nominee’s Congregation, and Nominee’s view on family. This is the only contributing metric that will not be used in the computation of the weighted score, because this metric will be based on feedback from the general public and not on the “works” based elements of the contributing metrics.

CONTRIBUTING METRICS

Ministry (Phillipians 12:1-18) – This category will deal with the Nominee’s dominant Philosophy of Ministry e.g. Faith, Healing, Prosperity, etc. However, this category will also consider the effectiveness of his/her Ministry as it relate to the rate of growth for Titheing Members.

Titheing Growth Members – This element identifies the Annual growth / decline of a Nominee’s Membership from 2005 to 2007.

Outreach (John 5:1-9) – This category will evaluate the passion of the Nominee’s Ministry relating to Societal Issues, Community Development, and Economic Empowerment outside the Church and what percent of operating budget is contributed, to addressing the local needs and National problems of the Congregation and Community For example:

  • Aids Foundation
  • Diabetes
  • Cancer
  • Heart Disease

Education (– This category will identify the Nominee’s, view on Education and its importance in developing and enhancing the Congregation, and Community at large. The priority of education will be reviewed from the perspective of how many schools has he/she supported financially, with lecture series ministry or building support. How many Scholarships provide a Budget set aside Aide for Educational Initiatives, etc.

Budget ( ) – This category will deal solely with resources and how effective the Nominee implements projects and maintain operations with his/her inflow of cash.

Using the priority weighting factor for each contributing metric a weighted average score will be determined using all of the metrics.

  • The score (2.8) from the Spiritual Man metric was used only in computing the overall Theologian Score because it captures the nominators view of the nominees
  • These results only demonstrate the Theo-Awards scoring methodology, but do not represent the actual score of a particular nominee

All Theologians will be scored according to this criterion. Using a process of elimination, after all of the nominees have been scored, 1 nominees with the highest score will be identified and placed on the Theo-Awards website as the Theologian of the Year.
